South Korean embassy in Saudi Arabia values the role of Etidal in combating extremism

The Deputy Head of the Mission of the Republic of South Korea to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Minister Plenipotentiary, Mr. Sang Lee, expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal). During his and the accompanying delegation´s reception by the Secretary-General of the Center, Dr. Mansour Alshammari, in Riyadh on January 16, 2020, Mr. Lee stressed that his country recognizes the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in maintaining stability in the region in general, and that South Korea declares its full support for these efforts.

Mr. Lee said on this occasion that he would like to thank the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and its Secretary-General for the reception. He noted that the Republic of South Korea recognizes the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to maintain stability in the region in general, and that South Korea declares its full support for these efforts. He reiterated his thanks for Etidal’s efforts in combating extremism and terrorism.

In response to a question raised by the Second Secretary member of the delegation, Ms. Yura Lee, about the possibility of joint cooperation with the South Korean embassy in efforts to combat extremism, officials of the Center explained, “We are ready to coordinate in this respect. Also, we work with all government entities and other agencies, and we have lots of experience and are keen to make partnerships in order to work with more than one party.”

Following that, the delegation was briefed on Etidal´s mechanisms for monitoring and analysis, in addition to the techniques and models built and developed by Etidal.

At the end of the visit, the guests took commemorative pictures with the Secretary-General, Dr. Mansour Alshammari, as he presented a memorial gift to the head of the delegation, Deputy Head of Mission of the Republic of South Korea to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Minister Plenipotentiary, Mr. Sang Lee.
