RIYADH- ETIDAL April 29, 2018 The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) welcomed today a distinguished delegation from The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Riyadh, led by Norway’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman and Bahrain, Mr. Øyvind Stokke. The Norwegian Delegation saw firsthand the Center’s strategic approach to combatting extremism including its techniques to monitor, analyze and confront online terrorist content as well as tactics to undermine social media propaganda extremist groups utilize to recruit new fighters. Since its establishment, the Center has hosted many international visitors as part of an effort to create a global network of governmental, citizen, educational and research institutions unified in the fight against terrorism. The Norwegian Ambassador expressed his support for the Center’s work and the need for global cooperation to better combat extremism.
