His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal), Dr. Mansour Al-Shammari, received at the center’s headquarters in the capital, Riyadh, on Monday, 28 Feb 2022, the French Senator and President of the Friendship Group between France and the Gulf States, Senator Olivier Cadic, and his accompanying delegation. This is in the context of his official visit to Saudi Arabia.
At the onset of the reception, His Excellency the Secretary-General of Etidal welcomed the delegation of the French Senate, praising France’s international role in supporting stability and stressing the continuation of strengthening cooperation between Etidal and the French Republic in efforts to combat extremist ideology.
During the visit, the French Senator and Chairman of the Friendship Group between France and the Gulf States, and his accompanying delegation, were briefed on Etidal’s work strategies, monitoring and analysis mechanisms, the techniques used, and the models that are being developed to dismantle extremist discourses.
At the end of the visit, the delegation of the French Senate took souvenir photos with His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Center, Dr. Mansour Al-Shammari.
While Senator Olivier Cadic, the French Senator and Chairman of the Friendship Group between France and the Gulf States, praised the center’s work mechanism, saying: “My first impression was that I was impressed by the vision of understanding combating extremism using objective means such as artificial intelligence, which is a very reassuring method, and in this regard my work will be with the French-Gulf Friendship Group with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is to find a link through which we seek to create a bridge for cooperation specifically in this field, since we have the same goal, which is to have a world in which people can live, in a modern world of moderation, and this What you are trying to build, which is also what we are trying to build, as we have the same goals, and I am sure we will join thanks to you.”
