“Etidal” participates in a symposium held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on countering extremism and terrorism

On November 8th 2018, a delegation from the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) have participated in a symposium held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah. The symposium focused on the role of member states in combating extremism and terrorism.

The participation of Etidal in the symposium came in its capacity as being a global center of a Saudi initiative that had wide international support since its opening in the presence of high level international personas in order to culminate global efforts in combating extremism.

Etidal presented two Working Papers during the symposium which had a global gathering of members and observers of the organization. The delegation has also reviewed the Center’s strategy in confronting extremist ideology, spreading the values of tolerance and moderation, mechanisms of monitoring and analyzing messages issued by extremist organizations and ways to confront them through the ideological and media projects published by the center.

It also reviewed the projects published by Etidal as well as upcoming future projects that are set to intercept and minimize the regional and global impact of extremist organizations.

The delegation, which participated as per an official invitation by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, praised the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the countries supporting countering terrorism in confronting extremist organizations and in drying up sources of terrorism.
