The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal), in collaboration with Telegram, continues their efforts to counter extremist propaganda activities of terrorist organizations. During the last quarter (October – December) 2023, they succeeded in removing 20,092,547 extremist content and banning 801 channels used to broadcast extremist contents, bringing the total results of their joint work during 2023 to remove 43,869,753 extremist content and close 6,264 extremist channels.
Etidal team monitored an increase in extremist propaganda dissemination activity during the last quarter of 2023 which related to three terrorist organizations (ISIS – Hay’at Tahrir AlSham – AlQaeda), as 14,064,489 extremist content were removed and 404 extremist channels were banned belonging to “ISIS”. As for “Hay’at Tahrir AlSham”, 3,781,568 extremist content were removed and 207 extremist channels were banned, while 2,246,490 extremist content were removed and 190 extremist channels were banned belonging to “Al-Qaeda”.
It is noteworthy that the joint collaboration between the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and Telegram enabled to remove 58,891,704 extremist content and banning 13,088 extremist channels since the beginning of the collaboration in February 2022 until December 2023.
