Head of The Euro-Gulf Information Centre visits “Etidal”

On Wednesday 12 September 2018, The Global Center For Combating Extremist Ideology “Etidal” welcomed Dr. Mitchell Belfer, Head of The Euro-Gulf Information Centre (EGIC), to its Riyadh Headquarters to discuss the Center’s approach to broadening global tolerance and moderation as well as identifying and confronting dangerous extremist content. During his visit, Belfer was introduced to Etidal’s command and control center as well as familiarized with diverse scope of the Center’s ideological and media projects intended to disrupt the how extremist organizations communicate, spread propaganda, recruit and use social media. The Head of the Euro-Gulf Information Center praised Etidal’s “extraordinary inaugural year accomplishments” specifically its record “combating extremism and promoting values of tolerance and coexistence.” “I think Etidal is going to make a big impact,” Belfer added, noting that innovative organizations like Etidal are critical in international efforts against global extremism including activating and engaging young people. The Euro-Gulf Information Center (EGIC) is based in Rome and its mission is to build social, political, strategic, cultural and economic bridges between the European and the Arabian Gulf people, utilizing the experience of scientists, policy makers, economists and members of European and Gulf civil societies to promote interregional relations.
