During the first quarter of the current year 2024, the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and Telegram was able to close 445 extremist channels and remove 16,496,615 extremist content related to three terrorist organizations.
For the third year in a row, (Etidal) and Telegram were able to combat propaganda activity of three terrorist organizations (ISIS – Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham – Al-Qaeda), as 11,634,102 extremist content were removed and 187 extremist channels were closed related to “ISIS”.
While 3,227,272 extremist content were removed and 186 channels were closed related to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, and 1,635,241 extremist content were removed and 72 extremist channels were closed related to Al-Qaeda.
It is worth noting that the total of what has been removed since the start of the cooperation between the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and Telegram in February 2022 until March 2024, has reached to 75,388,319 extremist content, while 13,533 extremist channels were closed used to broadcast these extremist propaganda activity.
