His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal), Dr. Mansour Al-Shammari, received a delegation from the Political and Security Committee of the European Union at the Center’s headquarters in Riyadh today (Monday), November 25, 2024. The delegation was headed by the Chair of the Committee, Ms. Delphine Pronk, and attended by the EU Special Representative for the Gulf Region, Mr. Luigi Di Maio. The meeting discussed various topics of mutual interest in the field of combating extremism.
The visiting delegation was briefed on Etidal’s strategy and efforts in countering extremist ideology and mitigating its effects and messages. They were also introduced to the Center’s community initiatives and international partnerships that promote the principles of tolerance and a culture of moderation.
The meeting was attended by the EU Ambassador to the Kingdom, Mr. Christophe Farnaud; the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Ms. Hélène Le Gal; and the Saudi Ambassador to the European Union, Ms. Haifa Al-Judaea.
At the end of the visit, His Excellency Dr. Mansour Al-Shammari presented a commemorative gift to Ms. Delphine Pronk, Chair of the Political and Security Committee of the European Union, and commemorative photos were taken.
